Rain Regin
by Ann Martin

Rose Howard has Asperger’s syndrome, and an obsession with homonyms (even her name is a homonym). She gave her dog Rain a name with two homonyms (Reign, Rein), which, according to Rose’s rules of homonyms, is very special. Rain was a lost dog Rose’s father brought home. Rose and Rain are practically inseparable. And they are often home alone, as Rose’s father spends most evenings at a bar, and doesn’t have much patience for his special-needs daughter.
Just as a storm hits town, Rain goes missing. Rose’s father shouldn’t have let Rain out. Now Rose has to find her dog, even if it means leaving her routines and safe places to search. Rose will find Rain, but so will Rain’s original owners.

Squanto
by Arlene Hirschfielder
J BIOG Squanto
As I was searching for books about thankfulness and Thanksgiving, I came across some articles about how some of our favorite older books about the holiday fail to see things from the point of view of the Native Americans. This book isn't specifically about thankfulness, but instead it is a biography of Squanto, a Patuxet Wampanoag Indian who served as translator to the Pilgrims of Plymouth in what is now Massachusetts and aided them in establishing a successful colony in the early 1600s. There might not be a Thanksgiving without Squanto's help.

Thus begins the hilarious chain of events that has kept readers in stitches since Henrietta first pecked her way onto the scene in 1977
Molly's Pilgrim
by Barbara Cohen

As Molly nears her first Thanksgiving in the New World, she doesn't find much to be thankful for. Her classmates giggle at her Yiddish accent and make fun of her unfamiliarity with American ways. This will resonate with kids who go to school with other kids who might seem different.
