So, these are some books for you toddlers about food! We all know that toddlers consider books themselves as food, and love to knaw on the corners - thus, the Board Book was born! Board books are often smaller, harder versions of picture books which is the case with several of the following books. Hope you and your little ones enjoy!
You Are My Cupcake by Joyce Wan
This one reminds me a lot of the sweet little song "You Are My Honey Bun". It's a nice little sort-of-rhyming verse with the most adorable illustrations of personified food! Check out Joyce's video of how to draw her cupcake! And also check out her Peep and Egg picture books too!
Early Bird by Toni Yuly
Well, we all thought Early Birds liked worms for breakfast, but are we sure about that? Check out this cute book and see if the rumor is true!
Little Pea by Amy Rosenthal
Little Pea lives with his Mama Pea and Papa Pea and is very happy. Except at dinner time. He HATES what peas have to have for dinner - can you guess what that is? This is a sweet little story about having to do some things you might not like to do, but how sometimes there is a reward at the end. This book also reminds me of the LMNO Peas picture books, which teach about alphabet, numbers and colors.
Lunch by Denise Fleming
It's time for lunch, and one little mouse is famished! In fact, he's so hungry that once he starts eating, he can't stop. He sinks his teeth into a crisp white turnip, gobbles up some orange carrots, devours an ear of yellow corn, then tosses back some tender green peas. He's full, but this mouse keeps on munching until his bulging belly won't hold another bite. Parents will see their own toddlers in this perky tale, and toddlers won't get enough of the gregarious little mouse. They'll proudly identify the colors of his (and their) favorite foods, and enjoy guessing what fruit or vegetable he'll eat next. Color-savvy readers are sure to spot the rainbow contained in the background pages-- and almost everyone will agree that this is one book about colors that makes the plain old primaries look positively pale! - Amazon.com
