So, can't come to the library this week. But does that mean we don't have books available for you to read? NO! Check out our great e-resources. You can find them from the library's home page (cidlibrary.org) under the E-Library tab. Hoopla is one of those resources. Hoopla has a great assortment of not just books, but audiobooks, comics and streaming movies. But I would like to point out that it has these items specifically for KIDS!When you log into Hoopla you will see to the right of the search bar a button that says KIDS. If you click it, you can search and browse just through the children's section of this database.
Today I want to share with you some great picture books - many of which, if your children have been in the Early Fives programs at CCS, may be familiar to you! They are some of our favorites to read aloud to our friends. Anything you find on Hoopla is always available for checkout. If you see it, and you are under your five items per month, you can check it out immediately.
In the coming days, I'll be adding book lists for our emergent reading friends and our early chapter and middle grade friends too.
Happy Reading!

Rex shows that friends will always find a way to face their fears together—even when those fears are not what they seem! Bruce the bear likes to keep to himself. That, and eat eggs. But when his hard-boiled goose eggs turn out to be real, live goslings, he starts to lose his appetite. And even worse, the goslings are convinced he's their mother. Bruce tries to get the geese to go south, but he can't seem to rid himself of his new companions. What's a bear to do? Bruce is a loveable grouch, and you can also read further about his adventures in the other Bruce books! | A minuscule T-Rex named Tiny finds himself faced with a difficult challenge: his best friend Pointy is feeling down and he wants to give comfort by hugging her. For a change you can check out these two audio books by Jory John. He's a seed. He has a bad temper, bad manners, and a bad attitude. He’s been bad since he can remember! This seed cuts in line every time, stares at everybody and never listens. But what happens when one mischievous little seed changes his mind about himself, and decides that he wants to be—happy? With Jory John’s charming and endearing text and bold expressive illustrations by Pete Oswald, here is The Bad Seed: a funny yet touching tale that reminds us of the remarkably transformative power of will, acceptance, and just being you. Perfect for readers young and old, The Bad Seed proves that positive change is possible for each and every one of us | In this follow-up to Jory John and Pete Oswald’s popular picture book The Bad Seed, meet the next best thing: a very good egg, indeed! The good egg has been good for as long as he can remember. While the other eggs in his carton are kind of rotten, he always does the right, kind, and courteous thing. He is a verrrrrrry good egg indeed! Until one day he decides that enough is enough! He begins to crack (quite literally) from the pressure of always having to be grade-A perfect. |
